8 Limbs of Yoga

The yoga which I practice is Raja Yoga or Patanjali’s 8 limbed approach or Clasiscal Astanga Yoga.  The 8 limbs of are listed below and each will be explored in more detail later in this book.

1.        Yamas – or universal Moralities.

2.       Niyamas – or personal observances

3.       Asanas – body postures

4.       Pranayama – Breathing Excersises.

5.       Pratyahara – Control of the Senses

6.       Dharana – Meditation.

7.       Dhyana –Meditation on the Devine.

8.       Samadhi  - Union with the Divine.
